Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data this site collects, why, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Last updated 23 September 2026.

What is collected and why
Contact form
If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are delivered by email (via Resend) and handled as correspondence. They are used only to respond to your inquiry and manage the resulting relationship (legitimate interest based on your direct contact). Correspondence is kept for up to two years, or until you ask for deletion.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, your email address is stored in a mailing list (Resend) and used only to send the newsletter, based on your consent. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address.
AI assistant
Questions typed into the Ask page are sent to the AI provider (Anthropic, or Google as a fallback) solely to generate an answer. This site does not store questions or answers. Details are on the AI on this site page.
Technical data
The hosting platform (Vercel) processes IP addresses and request metadata to serve and secure the site. Abuse protection keeps short-lived request counters against an anonymised address. Aggregated, cookieless usage measurement (Vercel Web Analytics) may be used to see which pages are read; it does not identify visitors or track them across sites.
Cookies
By default this site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Google Analytics is used only if you accept it in the consent banner; it then sets analytics cookies to measure page usage. Declining, or ignoring the banner, loads nothing. Your choice and interface preferences (such as theme) are kept in your browser's local storage.
Service providers and transfers
- Vercel: hosting and cookieless analytics
- Google Analytics: usage statistics, only with your consent
- Resend: email delivery and the newsletter list
- Anthropic / Google: generating AI assistant answers
Personal data is not sold, and it is shared only with these providers for the purposes above. Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area; transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions (GDPR Articles 45 and 46).
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal data; restrict or object to processing; and withdraw consent at any time (for example for the newsletter). Email hello@petrilahdelma.com and you will get a response within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi) or your local supervisory authority.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Form endpoints validate origin, limit request size and rate, and filter spam. Access to correspondence is limited to the controller. No method of transmission is completely secure, but practices are reviewed and updated as the site changes.
Changes
Updates to this policy are posted on this page with a new date. If the site starts using consent-based analytics or any new processing of personal data, this policy and the site's notices will be updated first.
